I couldn't stand it any longer, I had to jump on board and try the cutie patootie rag quilt purse instructions that Angie Juda has so graciously shared on her blog. Thanx Angie! I was standing on my head last night digging out fabric from containers that are full from various trips, up the east coast to Canada, out west from Nevada all the way back to Alabama after a brief stop in Cave Creek, Arizona to get my sweet little Chloe girl! I have a lot of fabric and I'll leave it at that. I took a couple of quilting classes a long time ago but you know the saying, use it or lose it...well I lost it, so here I go again stirring my interest in fabric. These little purses are not hard to make, they just have a lot of steps to them, but they are easy peasy. This purse is self lining which is a plus to me. I used my Big Shot die cutting machine and my Scallop Square Die to cut out the pieces for the purse. I hope to do a rag quilt soon using my Big Shot and dies, since that seems easier to me than a regular pieced quilt. Back to the purse...I dusted off my sewing machine, and I think if sewing machines could have a heart attack, this one would have since I can't tell you the last time I had it out. I chose some fabric from my stash that I had planned to use for a lap quilt for myself but it seemed perfect for a purse. (There's plenty left to make a lap quilt.) These little hearts are just in time for Valentine's although that doesn't limit this cute print to just February 14th. I added a little cut out flower and heart with a little Sweet Pea embellishment right in the center. Since I didn't have any appropriate large buttons on hand I used a Stampin' Up! Clear Button and cut a circle of my fabric the same size then using spray adhesive I adhered the two together. It went through the wash fine and didn't come off. I did learn a lot from this purse so I think my next one will be faster and look better. If you haven't made one try it out. You will have so much fun playing around with it.I have some birdhouse material I bought long ago and plan to make a purse from it. I love birdhouses and have them in my kitchen. Several were collected during our trips mentioned above. OK, here are the pics. Let me know what you think.
