Today I have a swap card to show you that I did for our quarterly upline/downline/sideline meeting Saturday. I love this set, Great Friend, and the texture plates so I combined the two to make this card. Cardstock: So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze
Designer Paper: Walk In The Park
Stamp Set: Great Friend
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Cameo Coral, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Eyelet Border Punch, Tea
I used the Distressed Texture Plate for the Very Vanilla background. The sentiment was stamped on Designer Paper, Walk In The Park, and cut out (wish we had a punch for this). I used the Eyelet Border Punch for the Baja Breeze trim across the Walk In The Park Designer Paper at the bottom. Random stamp the leaves from Good Friend across the Very Vanilla background using Kiwi Kiss. The butterflies were stamped, cut out and attached with only one dimensional in the center back so the wings could be raised a bit for dimension.
Now, for the interesting part of this card - the tea staining. I love tea staining paper and ribbon, just adds a new dimension to projects giving them an aged look. I was thinking it would be nice to make a beige Organza Ribbon. I heated up a tea bag in the micro and while it was very very hot, but not boiling, immersed the White Organza Ribbon in it. When I took it out I laid it across paper towels to dry. Later, when I looked at it I couldn't believe the beautiful gold color it had taken on. So, I immersed more in the tea, which by this time had cooled down, and upon removing it and letting it dry on paper towels noticed it was the beige I was originally going for. Soooooo, I heated the tea up again and immersed another piece, results were gold, cooled it down and repeated, the results were beige. I am not a chemist or scientist so I don't know why it turned out like it did, but I like it!!!!! Imagine using some of our rich bright colors, Pacific Point for example, or a softer look like Baja Breeze...yum!

I love this card
