Remember the song Karen Carpenter sang that starts out "Greeting cards have all been sent, the Christmas rush is through"? Well, I am not there yet, are you? Most of the shopping is done but I have a few little things to pick up, a few more goodies to make, a few more cards to send out. This year we agreed only the grandkids would get gifts and the adults would play dirty Santa so that trimmed the list quite a bit. We all love dirty Santa and our limit for dirty Santa this year is $20. It's so hard to find just the right thing for $20. As my gift I want to bring the one that everyone else wants and fights over. I think I picked a pretty good gift this year and will be one that is fought over because it suits the family. We will see. Of course I can't tell what it is yet because there is a slight chance someone might read my blog and it will spoil it.
Okay, as I said the gifts are wrapped but, no gift tags! I really don't like those little package of one hundred tags that look like address labels. Some of the gifts I have are large and I wanted to have large bold tags that stood out - SUPERSIZE tags. Take a look and let me know what you think.
I love these tags. It's hard to tell the size in the picture but these are 8-1/2" x 4-1/2"! I used the Big Shot Top Note die to make the Snowman's face and hat and cut a piece of black cardstock, used the corner rounder on it for the brim, then using the white pen put faux stitching al around. I punched out several shapes from my Big Shot dies, flowers, birds, scallops, leaves and snowflakes as well as using the Felt Flurries, Circle Punches, Snow Blossom and Wide Oval Punches and multiple ribbons. There is a sprinkle of glitter here and there, a little Blush Blossom on the cheeks. I used the Photo Corner Punch to punch the tag corners since our Tag Corner Punch is so small. Using this method I get a consistent cut that I can't get with scissors. I have tried taking the piece I cut with scissors and putting it on the other side to cut the same, no, doesn't work for me. You have to find tricks that work for you and this one works for me. Here are a couple of pictures to show you how I did it.
This show a closer look on positioning the tag in the punch. Be careful the tag only touches the side of the square that separates the photo corners as shown in the picture. This is your stop guide. If it slips under the square you will get a cut there as well.
This is how the edge looks after punching. Now punch the other side and you have a tag!
Here is a closer look at the tags shown in the group above. These are so much fun to make! These are all over the Internet but if you can't find one to use as a guide let me know and I will go into more detail.
The white pen on the black circle eyes of the Snowman make him come to life. (or is it that magic hat?!)
The To:/From: stamp is from Punch Pals, a wonderful holiday set.
If you prefer smaller simpler tags I will post some of those tomorrow. Quick, simple and easy.
Off to finish my Christmas Shopping...hmmm, I might need more tags!

Cute Martha. Great instructions. Your blog is looking really awesome.
