I can't believe I haven't posted since Easter...life just happens. Things have been busy busy around here. So many things happening all at once. I have been blog surfing tonight to get inspiration so I will be creative tomorrow. I have soaked up all the mojo I could find. There are so many talented Stampin' Up! demos out there that are so great about sharing and I want to say thank you to each and everyone.
Saturday was a first birthday party for a special little guy in my life so I found myself without a gift bag for his gift. I did have a turquoise Belk bag so I decided to alter that. I knew he would love the turquoise. I decorated the bag so that the front and back could be gently removed from the bag to make scrap pages for his scrapbook. Yes, Giggi is always thinking ahead to the scrapbook!
His birthday card can also be used as an embellishment on the page. The pictures here are not very good...I have a new camera and can't get the settings just right, but you get the idea. You know I love my punches so I had to have fun with falling stars from my star punches. I am loving these colors. He liked them pretty well himself, walking around with his card for a bit. The giraffe looks like he is walking on stage from behind a curtain where the Pumpkin Pie striped ribbon is.
The matching gift bag, from my thrifty recycle project, the vellum Belk bag in turquoise, was altered using several punches and stamp sets as well. If I weren't so tired and it wasn't so late I would tell you all of them but I am not sure I can remember right now. If you really want to know leave me a comment and I'll get the recipe information. I stamped the tissue paper as well and discovered that when you stamp on tissue paper that just enough ink goes through to the white paper below it to make a
nice background for scrapping, so next time I stamp tissue I'll put a 12 x 12 piece of white card stock under my tissue stamping and make a nice background while I'm at it. Back to the bag...I used a bamboo skewer and rubber bands to hold the letters. I don't recommend that if the child will be playing with the bag, but we were careful as we wanted to use the elements on a birthday scrap page later so that is really two gifts! The tags say Birthday Wishes and For You. The chocolate ribbon holding the name tags on the skewer sort of breaks up the color and gives a little grounding to the gift bag. The back side has a couple of embellishments as well. I won the turquoise glitter in a game at a stamp camp a couple of weeks ago and LOVE it. (I have since ordered the entire color pack. BLING!!!!) The big number 1 is covered in turquoise glitter and really sparkles, although that doesn't come through in the next picture. The tag next to it says You Are One of a Kind. I sprinkled a few stars around on the back since it looked so plain. I can't wait to disassemble it and put it in his book! I have the cutest pictures of him eating his own little individual Elmo birthday cake. He has it from tip to toe, in is ear, hair, eyelashes and nose. Needless to
say, there was a quick shower between the cake eating and the opening of gifts! I didn't show you the inside of the card did I? I used the little cake from Voila because it has one little candle on it and is a small cake. Perfect!!!
Yes, that is turquoise glitter frosting!! Yum!!!
What's that? You want to see the cake picture as well? The little boy with cake from tip to toe? Are you squeamish? Can't you stand the site of a little boy that has been drug through the frosting? OK then, scroll on down to see.
Last chance to turn back.......
